Trump’s Stalingrad

Steps back a minute and look at one of the main course of events that brought Hitler to his knees. Most of his war efforts-invasions of other countries had been going smoothly with very few hiccups. He thought he and his mighty armies were invincible. He totally underestimated the fighting capability of the Soviet Army. In the end, when defeat was eminent and certain, he refused to accept the fact that the Russians were destroying his army. Hitler underestimated the power of the Russian army and the brutal Russian winters.

Hitler’s Generals told him, to continue fighting in Russia ,was a lost cause. He refused to believe them. As a result, hundreds of thousands German solders were killed and 25 divisions were lost.  One hundred and eighty thousand Germans were captured.

Fast forwards to today. Trump and his minions have denied and refuse to accept the strength of the Coronavirus 19 virus.  Trump has been strutting around with his chest stuck out bragging about how great America is doing. Despite warnings to the contrary from those in the know, he refuse to accept their conclusions and says, ”All is well. “ Despite warnings about the condition of the American economy, he says America is well on its way to overcoming the down turn in the economy and will recover by the end of 2020. According to reliable sources, untold number of Americans have died due to the outbreak of Coronavirus 19 virus. The number of deaths in America does not interest him, He sees it as collateral damage Trump’s inaction to information he received in January about an impending Pandemic virus outbreak in America defies logic.  Why did he refuse to take action, initially?

Hitler was obsessed with capturing Stalingrad, no matter the cost in human lives. Trump is obsessed with keeping good stock market numbers, low unemployment numbers and new jobs created, despite increasing loss of lives and illness. . Trump feels these are the numbers that count in America. He is determined to open up factories, beaches, bars, and houses of worship and other workplaces where many people work together in close quarters. Forgot one other number he is obsessed with- the number of people at his rallies.

Forgotten Promises

How did Trump do it.

Scholars continue to wonder how Trump came to power. All they have to do is look at Hitler’s rise to power.  Simply put, he appealed to the emotions of a people.  He took advantage of a people seeking a change from the present. This is why he castigated Obama every chance he got when he was running for office. He continues these attacks since becoming President. He is bound and determined to convince his followers/supporters that every policy decision the Obama Administration made was bad for America. He painted himself as a picture of a Master Fixer, and quick as one could blink an eye, all ills plaguing America would be resolved/taken care of.  Of course, using Hitler tactics, he is very vague in the policies he intends initiating to bring his promises to fulfillment/completion.  As with Hitler, Trump knows to whom he has to appeal.  He knows fully well that there are a significant number of Americans who are easily led. Through the power of persuasion and an appeal to their innermost feelings, he can convince them to accept anything he says as logical, no matter how illogical and untruthful. Trump knows as Hitler did that propaganda must be popular and it intellectual level must be adjusted to the most limited intelligence of those it is addressed to.

Why do you think Trump continually rant about the Deep State? He is talking about what he sees as the existing Government-a government that he is, according to his followers, ordained to bring down and replace it with some vague idealist form of Governing.  Overthrowing the government, using tactics utilized by Hitler and the Third Reich, is this way Trump goes about things. Creating distrust, anger, class warfare, racism, and unreal-ism is what he does best.  As with Hitler, Trump, utilizing a very effective propaganda machine that drilled into the minds of a people so much mistrust of the government, that they were willing to see changes, any kind of changes, good or bad.  Trump has sown a seed of distrust of the Press, of the Courts and judges, of Congress etc. At this point, his followers’ are brainwashed to the point that they think he is the only one they can trust-that he has all of the answers to all their questions. Trump’s response to the Stock Market ebbs and flows is an indication of how far he is removed from reality. He struts when the market goes up; taking a bow. When it goes down, he says he had nothing to do with it, and everyone and everything else is to blame.

All of the predictions made about Trump during the Republican Debates are coming true. All of the predictions made about Trump during Hillary Clinton’s debate with Trump is coming true. What more evidence does America need to see- to understand that Trump is unfit to Govern America?

Giving credit where credit is due

America was warned about the eventual Meltdown of the Stock Market during the rein of the Trump administration.  Of course, Trump and his supporters said nothing was further from the truth. Well here we are. Trump is not totally to blame for the meltdown. However he is responsible for creating false and unsustainable Stock Market numbers. Remember how he pressured Chairman Powell causing him to make unnecessary maneuvers and adjustments in the Federal Reserve?
Trumpsters, you gave Trump credit for the increase in the Stock Market. I agree, he should be given credit. Now, if he has that kind of control of the Stock Market, then it stands to reason that he be given the same consideration when the market is in decline. Please do not exonerate him from the decline of the Stock Market. If you give him credit for the sunshine, then give him credit for the thunderstorm. I watched as he gave indirect hints to his Wall Street buddies to buy or sell stock. He indicated he had made a great Trade deal with China. This was untrue, but it caused a surge in the Stock market. I am waiting for him to say something that will stabilize the market. This situation is exactly what many voters were afraid of. They knew he was ill-prepared to deal with issues of this sort. Didn’t many people say that there would be a meltdown of the Market? Well, here it is. He is ill-prepared, and is not surrounded with people who can guide him and America through some very troubling and uncertain times. Of course, Trump will do as he always do, deny any responsibility for the downward spiral of the Stock Market. Just wait, he will take credit as soon as the market heads in a different direction. More troubling is that his rabid supporters are unwilling to hold him responsible for the direction the Stock Market is currently headed, despite lauding over him, and suggesting his decisions were driving the market when it was posting daily record highs. Folks, stop being selective, when it comes to holding Trump responsible. Remember, he said he could do anything he wants to do as President. AG Barr and his Republican enablers agrees with him. I am sure he wants the market to head in a different direction. So Master Trump, speak the word! Say the magic words that will get you and your supporters that which they are breathlessly waiting for.

Donald Trump A Very Sick man

Donald Trump’s current behavior leaves little doubt regarding his mental state. He is totally unhinged and has lost control of his senses.  Those who take advantage of his mental state must be held accountable for their actions. Who are these folks-businesses-media outlets and Corporations taking advantage of his state of mind? The Corporations who convinced him he was right giving them huge tax breaks bear a lot of responsibility for his actions. Right wing Talk Radio takes advantage of his erratic behavior and makes no sense narrative, to increase their listener-ship and sponsorship and spread their propaganda. Fox outlets takes advantage of him strutting out and making all kinds of stupid remarks and constant lying.  Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingram, Mike Gallagher, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Neil Boortz and other Right Wing Talk Radio propaganda machines are especially troubling, since they spend hours covering for him, even in situations where they know he is wrong, and or lying.  These outlets created the platform for Trump to be elected President of The United States. Trump’s immediate family is wrong for allowing him to continue to make a fool of himself and harm the United States Democracy. They are close enough to him to see he has little or no control of his senses/behavior. To them, he is just another way to make money/little else. Those who claim allegiance to their religious beliefs have discarded most of their claimed beliefs in favor of supporting Trump.  So-called Republican Lawmakers seem totally under control of Trump and are willing to sit back and do nothing, no matter what he does. Certainly there is little doubt that he has something on Devin Nunes of California. They created the current situation by not doing any oversight of the Trump Administration. Why, you ask? Some say they are afraid of losing support back home.

Trump and his followers/supporters are quick to question the patriotism of almost anyone who disagrees with them. Douglas MacArthur had this to say about Patriotism.  Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seem to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn.

Now you have Trump proudly floating around the word treason without having a clue the true meaning of the word as spelled out in the US Constitution. Lord Byron penned the following. There is no traitor like him whose domestic treason plants the poniard within the breast that trusted in his truth.

If there is any effort from the Right to rein in Trump, those professing to be real Christians must step up and defend their beliefs-beliefs contrary to the actions of Trump. This is a very difficult task. Why, you ask?  First, they must relieve themselves of their bigotry.  Oliver Holmes penned the following. The mind of a bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it contract.

Finally, According to Logan Smith.  How it infuriates a bigot, when he is forced to drag into light his dark convictions. Most Trump supporters refuse to admit that he is a very sick and deranged man who, due to his illness and propensity for doing wrong/illegal things needs to be removed from office.

Republicans elected Trump.

Most of the blame for Donald Trump’s behavior lies squarely in the lap of the Republican party. Why? Simple-Republican voters elected him. He could not vote and elect himself into office. Many Republican lawmakers have known Trump for a long time and know him well. They know his reputation as a cheat, scoundrel and habitual liar. Disregarding and ignoring this knowledge, they convince those who put them in office that Trump would be an excellent President. Some even proclaimed that Trump was sent by God. They convinced millions of Republican voters that Trump was the answer to all of their ills.
Trump came on the spot, proclaiming that if voters elected him, he would solve all of the ills of this nation. He was going to undo everything the Obama Administration imposed on America. Republican voters were blindsided by Trump and Republican Lawmakers. Many Republican voters were unsure if Trump was the right person to run this nation, but their fears were lessened by the messages broadcasted by Republican lawmakers. Add Fox and Conservative Right Wing Talk radio and you have the recipe for the disaster we have in the White House.
There continues to be lingering questions. How did Trump convince Republican lawmakers to support him for President? How has he convinced them to continue to support him, despite obvious reasons to withdraw their support? What has he done to cause Republican Lawmakers to totally cease and abstain from their Constitutional responsibility of Congressional Oversight?
It is easy to see how Trump managed to get the support of his staunch supporters. He appealed to their sense of losing things to which they are entitled . He talked about them being forgotten. He talked about how the Obama Administration had shunned them and did not have their best interest in mind. Those fearing their jobs being overtaken by the hoards coming across our southern border were consumed by Trump’s rhetoric. Remember, he was going to build the wall, and Mexico was going to pay for it.
Trump was going to make America great again. Never once did he tell them what era, decade, or century he felt America was at its greatest. Trump talked about cutting taxes, and at the same time drawing down the national debt. Republican lawmakers knew he was lying, but failed to tell America voters he was lying. When Trump’s behavior is questioned, Republican lawmakers quickly come to his defense and words like non-support for the President, patriotism, loyalty and treason are tossed into the equation.
Millions Americans arrived at the conclusion that the election of Trump to the Presidency of The United States, was a mistake, but were willing to sit back and hope he would grow to be Presidential. Never mind the fact that one can not do what they do not know how to do. He does not have the intellect, attitude and aptitude to behave differently than he does on a daily basis.
It is unclear why voters felt Trump could do little damage to the American way of life in four years. Wrong! He has done a lot of damage in two years. If he is removed from office prior to the end of his term, look who is waiting in the wings-Pence. Some say he is worse than Trump because he puts a Christianity spin on many of his decisions is instrumental in causing many Christians to forgo their beliefs to support Trump, Entirely too many of the Christian faith are disregarding his behavior, behavior characteristics they, at one time deemed as disqualifications to hold the office of President of The United States.
Republican voters, you are the main reason Trump is President. You are the main reason there is so much corruption in the White House. You are the main reason so many people associated with Trump have been convicted of wrongdoing and will serve time in jail.  Try as you may, you cannot ignore the fact that you put him in office.
Entirely too many Trump supporters have taken on the Trump attitude, which is, I am never wrong, and everything is always someone else fault. For the sake of America, admit you made a mistake, and go about the business of righting many of the wrongs Trump has imposed on this Nation.

Lack of Understanding

One has to wonder if Trump and his supporters really understand how his behavior is impacting the United States and it Allies. The sheer lunacy of his actions suggest he nor they have a clue what is taking place. The question must be answered-how long can the masses tolerate his obvious unfitness to hold the office of President? This nation should be well beyond its tolerance of Trump’s behavior and how it effect his ability to govern. Hardly a day pass without something surfacing that points out Trump’s unsuitability to hold the office of President of the United States. He is totally incapable of carrying out the responsibility of the office of President. He lack the character, demeanor, intelligence and courageousness to hold the office. Those who hold out hope that he will eventually change his behavior to suit what is expected of the Presidency are fooling themselves. Painting stripes on a cow will not make it a zebra. He is what he is and is and incapable of changing his conduct and certainly not his character. He and his passionate supporters have little or no understanding of how far out of touch he is with reality.
Machiavelli opining about lack of understanding stated the following-Men are of three different capacities: One understands intuitively, another understands so far as it is explained, and a third understands neither himself nor by explanation. The first is excellent, the second is commendable, and the third altogether useless. Trump has little to offer this Nation. The sooner he and his supporters understand this fact, the quicker the healing of this Nation can begin. Trump’s lack of understanding and his inability to accept criticism is his Achilles hill. He and his supporters fail to understand that according to MacLeish, Criticism in a free country is made on certain assumptions, one of which is the assumption that the government belongs to the people and at all times subject to the people’s correction and criticism.

Mired in Quicksand!

Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay were right. They wrote in Article 75 of the Federalist Papers the following:
…….might sometimes be under temptations to sacrifice his duty to his interest, which it would require superlative virtue to withstand. An avaricious man might be tempted to betray the interests of the state to the acquisition of wealth. An ambitious man might make his own aggrandizement, by the aid of a foreign power, the price of his treachery to his constituents. The history of human conduct does not warrant that exalted opinion of human virtue which would make it wise in a nation to commit interests of so delicate and momentous a kind, as those which concern its intercourse with the rest of the world, to the sole disposal of a magistrate created and circumstanced as would be a President of the United States.
The Federalist Papers warned us about putting people of Trump’s character in the office of President of the United States of America. What is so significant about the writings? Thinkers (Political Scientist) of this era, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay Penned the Federalist Papers in 1787. They made it perfectly clear that the character of the individual entrusted with the power of President is of utmost importance. Current allegations facing President Trump is exactly about what they wrote. They write about the possibility of treason. Arron Hill opined about treason: ” The man who pauses on the path of treason, halts on quicksand, the first step engulphs him.”

Sharing Why not?

Given today’s unending and growing friction and animosity between races, nations and the haves and have not, what is a reasonable expectation of what is to come? Certainly in a Country whose economic system is based on capitalism, things will  get worse. The way that wealth is distributed assures this outcome. Hook and crook is not necessary.   It reminds me of a lion’s kill. The lion pride eats its share. When their appetite is satisfied and bellies are filled, they slowly saunter away; find a shady spot and rest for a very long time. Meanwhile, after the lions have taken all they want, other animals move in to spar and fight over what the lions did not eat. Buzzards, Jackals, Fox, hyenas etc. jockey and fight, trying to get a little piece of what is left. No different as far as humans are concerned. Those in the middle and at the bottom are constantly fighting over the scraps left by the rich. There are times when it takes the whole carcass to satisfy the hunger needs of a lions pack and nothing is left but bones. Animals who do not have the jaw power to make a meal of bones go hungry. Some animals never get a full meal. The same thing happens under capitalism. There are those who never get a decent share of the kill.

Notice. I never mentioned the word Fair. All I am saying is why is it necessary for some folk to have so much wealth, while others go hungry? Why are some folk so unwilling to share for the good of mankind? Why put a people in a position that they feel it necessary to get access to the wealth of this nation by illegal means? Until more people of means understand and accept the notion that there is nothing wrong with sharing wealth, the gap between haves and have not will continue to grow.

It is written that the knowledge of our nature, and the circumstances which govern the character and conduct of man, are to be acquired only by attending to the facts which exist around us, and to the past history of the human species. In other words, what has taken place in the past that helped create the situation in which we find ourselves?

This writer Owens makes the argument that this whole individual thing is what tears a people apart, and unless it is entirely abandoned, it will be useless to expect any substantial, permanent improvement in the condition of the human race, for this system ever has been, and must ever remain directly opposed to universal charity, benevolence, and kindness; and until the means were discovered, and can be brought into practice, by which universal charity, benevolence, and kindness, can be made to pervade the heart and mind of every human being, a state of society in which “peace on earth and good will to man” shall exist, must remain unknown and unenjoyed by mankind

Finally, Owens is saying, “Folks, we had better take care of what is ailing this country. If not, what you see today will continue to grow. I.e. Donald Trump. He and his followers may have the makings a Fourth Reich.

Enough already!

Enough already!

In his book titled The Age of Jackson, Arthur Schlesinger, JR. wrote about how American history has been marked by recurrent swings between conservatism and liberalism. Without a doubt, the period between the years 2000 and 2008 heavily favored those of the conservative persuasion. And, true to history, many social issues that needed to be addressed were ignored. Two long-lingering wars, a deep recession, high unemployment, uninsured Americans, a banking system in disarray, and a whole host of other issues that needed to be addressed were given little genuine attention

Although as history shows, the pendulum has always swung between conservatism and liberalism, the last swing to conservatism was something to behold.  The little people were all but forgotten-forgotten when it came to reaping some of the fruits of their labor. Conservative politicians and talking heads convinced many of their followers that this thing called trickle-down economics, fashioned and put into play by the Regan Administration was still applicable and adhering to this philosophy continued to be in their best interest. In its simplest definition, it says, let those at the top get most of the wealth of this nation and they will let it trickle down to the masses. Some are wondering when will the trickle-down phenomenon begin.

In 2008 Obama, a true liberal, was elected President of these United States. And, as has history clearly shows, he entered into office with the grim and unenviable task of solving the above mentioned problems as well as several new problems that surfaced on his watch. If history repeats itself, at some point, the public will feel the nation has swung too far to the left and once again, conservatism will again rule the day.

In their efforts to right the course of the ship, will the Obama Administration overcorrect and swing too far to the left?  Is America ready to be taken where the Obama Administration is trying to take it? Will his health plan crumble under its own weight? These and other lingering questions will be answered between 2013 and 2016.

The current budget impasse is a classic example of politicians letting things pile up. Some people think those in Washington charged with solving our budgetary problems are incapable of doing so. Others feel they may be capable, but are not willing to put aside their biases long enough to get anything done. Isn’t it amazing how easy it was for them to set aside their differences and put into place the mechanism to go to two wars, but will not use the same logic to craft a budget both sides can agree on?

Many of the issues the Obama Administration is dealing with have to do with the wealth of this nation. Although cloaked in something else, if one takes the time to remove the outer-garment, they will find the almighty dollar is driving the debate. A politician from Caroline had it right when he wrote the following way back in the 1800s. “Wealth, like suffrage, must be considerably distributed, to sustain a democratic republic; and hence, whatever draws a considerable proportion of either into a few hands, will destroy it. As power follows wealth, the majority must have wealth or lose power.”

Taylor saw two threats to the natural economic order. He states the following” there are two modes of invading private property; the first by which the poor plunder the rich….sudden and violent; the second, by which the rich plunder the poor, slow and legal.” He felt the poor could not become dangerous until the concentration of wealth greatly increased their number. The real peril he believed lay in the second mode; plunder from above; orderly and legalized. The secession of privileged orders through history-the priesthood, the nobility, now the banking system showed how every age has shown its own form of institutionalized robbery by a minority operating through the state.

Will the US Government ever be strong enough to wrest the power from those who have the real power in this nation. After-all, wealth equals power, and power equals control.  Have the majority  been conditioned to accept the fact that a few people with vast amounts of wealth control this nation and feel there is little that can be done to alter the situation? How does a Nation break up the mass concentration of wealth without wealth redistribution accusations obscuring and shrouding the issue?  How does one convince those controlling and owing most of the wealth of America that this situation could and probably will, eventually lead to the destruction of this thing called capitalism? This nation will eventually self-destruct if drastic action isn’t taken to insure more people share in its wealth. It is easy to see how the American way of life is being torn apart by companies and individuals seeking profit and wealth.  One of the simplest ways to get more wealth into the hands of the masses is to simply pay them a little more. After all, one can argue that without them, who would produce the wealth of this nation?

Something must change. There will be change. Will it be controlled change, or will it be forced uncontrolled change? Those elected to guide this nation must put aside their differences and make decisions based on the will of the people and/or for the good of America.

Getting rich no matter the consequences

I discovered an article by Keller dated January 5, 1916. In the article, she makes a case against America getting into World War I.  Helen Keller is well-known in most quarters for her accomplishments despite being blind. This article is a must read for all who are eager to send our young into harm’s way under false pretense.  Helen Keller realized the real reasons most nations go to war. Her analysis of who derives what from the act of war is particularly eye-opening.    Ms. Keller writes about the US excuse for sustaining a large standing army. Ms. Keller, in her writings suggests that the real motive for the US having a large army was to protect the capital of American speculators in foreign countries.

As in Ms. Keller’s lifetime, labor continues to be exploited and capital piled up.  Those who own all of this capital (wealth) are constantly looking for ways and places to invest and obtain even more wealth. Nations having resources (i.e. oil natural gas) and other minerals are prime targets for American speculators.  Let us not forget America’s love for cheap labor. Ms. Keller suggested that according to US capitalists thinking, a dollar not used to make a slave of some human being is not fulfilling its purpose in the capitalistic scheme.

Today, we have American interest all over the world. It is fondly referred to as the global economy. Fair Trade agreement is another phrase tossed around. Take a close look at the real impact of this so-called global economy. One can see who has gained and who has lost, since its implementation. China’s economy is robust and growing rapidly. Much of this growth can be directly linked to jobs once held by American workers being done by Chinese workers in China. Decent paying factory jobs, once the backbone of America’s labor force, is largely a thing of the past. Of course one industry that continues to strive in the US is the defense industry. Americans have been convinced that some nation, largely unnamed since the end of the cold war, is out to destroy this nation. Therefore a large and powerful military is necessary.  In the meantime, virtually the entire US defense apparatus (though not outwardly admitted) is to protect America’s business interest abroad.  One has to wonder how much it cost to build, supply and man the US armada of Aircraft Carriers, Submarines and other naval vessels that patrol the seaways and protect America’s shipping interest. One has to wonder how much it cost to keep US troops in South Korea.  After all, they have been there since the early fifties. What does it cost to keep troops in the Middle East?

Very little has changed in this thing called war. Motivations to go to war are the same as they have been for many centuries. The ability to make war is where the biggest difference lies America’s business interest abroad must be protected at all cost.  If anything, despite no obvious threat to the US, many people, especially those of the Conservative persuasion are easily convinced that an attack against this nation is just around the corner. Just think-today the US has these things called Drones. These aircrafts remotely control pilot-less aircraft, armed with missiles can strike targets with deadly accuracy virtually anywhere in the world.

As I researched this article, I came across an article published in the Columbus Sun on February 17, 1865.  The article titled “The Class that suffers” and reads as follows. Upon poor women and children, upon solders who are toiling and bleeding for liberty, upon salaried men who have not the time, or who desire to speculate, this whole weight of this fearful struggle falls.  Men of wealth, who are hoarding thousands, put up the piteous cry of exorbitant-rates-more bitterly than ever just after increasing the prices one thousand fold, while upon ragged blood-drenched soldiers, upon weary despairing, heart-sick women, and those whose only dependence is a pitiful yearly sum must be made to bitterly suffer…… What matters life or death, so avarice can be gratified? What is honor unattended by wealth? What is liberty unless money can be hoarded by millions? What, if the country be ruined, its women ravished, its homes desolated, its alters violated and freedom forever perished-what matters all so the almighty dollar may be massed in piles? What care men of the present day whether their county sinks so property maybe secured, and the price at which liberty can be bought rest as light as possible upon their patriotic shoulders….. That is right. Pile up wealth-no matter whether bread be drawn from the mouth of the soldier’s orphan or the one limbed hero who hungry walk your streets-take every dollar you can, pay out little as possible, deprive your noble warriors of every comfort and luxury, increase in every way the necessaries of life, make everybody but yourself and non-producers bear the taxes of the war; but be very careful to parade everything you give to the public-talk boldly on the street corners of your love for country, be a grand home general-and when the war is over point to your princely palace and its magnificent surroundings and exclaim with pompous swell “These are the results of my patriotism.”

Take note people, especially those of you who call Conservative Talk Radio and Fox News Network blowhards Great Americas. It is indeed painful to hear an accolade of the magnitude heaped on the likes of Hannity, Boortz and Limbaugh. The above paragraph describes them to a T.

When the subject of wealth distribution comes up, those of the conservative persuasion quickly interject the words-class warfare. They suggest that those wishing to get a larger share of American wealth are stricken with something called wealth envy. This daily tirade and propaganda serves to harden the hearts of those who have the majority of this nation’s wealth. Leo XIII Pope (1810-1903) suggests there is no natural divide between those who have and those who have not.  He penned the following:  a small number of the very rich have been able to lay upon the teeming masses a yoke a little better than that of slavery….The great mistake made in regard to the matter now under consideration, is the notion that class is naturally hostile to class, and the wealthy and the workmen are intended to live in mutual conflict. So irrational and so false is this view, that the direct contrary is the truth.
