Listen To The Voice of Reason

Moon Rocks

How many of you remember when a few enterprising folks thought it a good idea to market Moon Rocks? Of course, there was one insurmountable problem-acquiring Moon Rocks. Not to be dissuaded by the scarcity of Moon Rocks, it was decided there were enough gullible and easily duped folks in the US to sell common rocks found on earth and call them Moon Rocks. After some initial consternation and soul-searching, rocks were gathered and marketed as Moon Rocks. Some folks, without hesitation, ran out and bought the rocks. At some point, it was disclosed that the whole Moon Rock thing was nothing but a hoax. One has to question why some folks fell for this scheme. Why Moon Rocks sold, becomes much clearer if one looks at what Talk radio and Fox sells its listeners. Many people wonder, aloud, how Madoff managed to bamboozle so many people for such a long time. The same applies to Ken Lay and Enron. Just listen to any of the CTR (Conservative Talk Radio) and FNN (Fox News Network) outlets. It becomes painfully clear why Moon Rocks sold. Why Madoff and Ken Lay were undetected for such a long time becomes much clearer. Why some inquisitive folks have not taken a serious look at Talk Radio is beyond me. There is a need to look deeply into the inner workings of this monster called talk radio. The damage it causes is immeasurable. Listen closely, to not only what the talking heads are spouting, but also what callers to these outlets are saying. It becomes extremely clear that the minds of many have been overtaken by talk radio. Listening to some of the callers is often very painful, while at the same time enlightening. Clearly, most are just regurgitating what CTR and Fox jocks spew out and really do not have an opinion of their own. Listen closely, you will hear them repeating what Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, Levin, Boortz and other extremely opinionated jocks said-very few opinions of their own. As America, struggles to deal with many extremely complicated issues; people need information that allows them to make decisions based on accurate and relevant information. Issues falsely shaped and marketed to the American public have a detrimental effect how people vote, what they support and the level of their anxiety. People that get daily doses of CTR and FNN are extremely susceptible to false, and misleading opinions, marketed as facts. As is often said, people have a right to their own opinions, but not their own facts. CTR and FNN success is based on their ability to sell opinions loosely packaged as news. Confucius said the following: learning without thinking is useless. Thinking without learning is dangerous. He also said: the wise man is informed in what is right. The inferior man is informed in what will pay. Much of what people get from the above-mentioned outlets is virtually useless except it is a means for talking heads to get rich at the expense of their listeners and further the cause of a political party.
